The plant will be a significant addition to JK Cement’s present capacities and will help expand its reach across high-demand markets of Rajasthan, Gujarat and beyond. Being very close to stone, this plant will never have a problem in terms of having raw material, which is a very strong point in the long-term viability of the business. Major plans also cover upgrading the dealer and distributor network around the new plant.
Raghavpat Singhania, Managing Director of JK Cement, announced the development, saying it represents “a major milestone” in the company’s growth journey. “Investing in Jaisalmer means laying the foundation for a future that will render not just increased production capacity but also new employment opportunities and skill development and progress,” he added.
The plant will utilize innovative technologies, including a waste heat recovery system (WHRS), emphasizing the Company’s sustainability initiative. WHRS technology permits the recycling of heat energy generated during production processes for better energy efficiency and reduction of emissions. JK Cement maintains that such principles are in keeping with its commitment towards carbon emission reduction and environmental sustainability.
With this very Jaisalmer project, JK Cement is another cement producer in India, enhancing its capacities to meet demand from infrastructure and housing. Infrastructure push from the government, urban housing, and rising demand for premium-grade cement have been beneficial for this sector, say the experts from these two sectors.
Though the company did not specify the capacity of the plant, it did claim that it is a linchpin for the pan-India growth strategy. The plant is expected to provide immense employment for the local communities, both during construction and once operational.
Being one of the largest producers of grey cement, white cement, and wall putty in India, the company is headquartered in Kanpur. Further investment in Jaisalmer augments this standing in the fast-advancing cement sector in India.
