Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has proposed the creation of a state-run Logistics Corporation to streamline cargo movement via ports, airports, rail, road, and inland waterways, positioning AP as a national logistics hub.
Chairing a review on industries and infrastructure on Monday, Naidu said the state’s 20 operational ports — with more planned — and upcoming airports offer massive opportunities for integrated transport networks. He urged changes to the maritime policy to enable airport-port synergy and attract large-scale investments.
The CM called for economic hubs and satellite townships around every major port and airport to spur new regional growth. “Integrated development will generate wealth and unlock untapped areas,” he said, directing officials to prepare a detailed blueprint.
Naidu stressed that AP’s central location between north and south India gives it a strategic advantage in cargo routing. He sought direct linkages between ports, airports, national highways, and rail lines, with proposals to the Centre for funding highway and railway upgrades.
On infrastructure quality, Naidu demanded pothole-free roads across the state and urged land acquisition to stay on schedule for new airports at Kuppam and Dagadarthi. He also proposed developing satellite townships near seaports, airports, and MSME parks in all 175 Assembly segments under PPP models, using viability gap funding if necessary.
The CM outlined plans for shipbuilding clusters, cruise terminals, and international waterway facilities, aligning state policy with the Centre’s Ship Building Cluster Scheme. He insisted that local fishermen be protected from disruptions during construction.
Inland waterways, Naidu said, could make AP the “number-one state” for maritime cargo transport. “This Logistics Corporation must become a growth engine for Andhra Pradesh’s economy,” he emphasised.
Officials were instructed to identify sites for shipbuilding units and prepare investment-friendly maritime policy changes. The state, Naidu added, must ensure seamless cargo transport infrastructure while creating industrial and township ecosystems that anchor long-term economic growth.
